Being a housekeeper in a prominent family to gain an opportunity to go to Wat Paknam
At the age of 26, Khun Yai decided to leave her family with a firm intention to find her father in the hereafter. Having handed over her belongings including plots of land and precious gems and jewelry to her siblings, she left home and arrived in Bangkok.

While staying with a relative there, Khun Yai learned that Madam Liab had been a regular benefactor of Wat Paknam for 20 years. Madam Liab was well known by not only monks, novices, and lay disciples throughout the temple but also by Luang Pu Wat Paknam, himself.
Although Khun Yai didn’t really need the money, she decided to work with Madam Liab as a housekeeper in hopes that one day she would have the opportunity to go to Wat Paknam and become a disciple there. Since she was from the countryside and didn’t know anyone at Wat Paknam, this was her best chance to make that connection.

After beginning her work, Khun Yai discovered that Madam Liab was a very neat person who loved cleanliness. Whatever she did, it had to be neat and tidy. Therefore, Khun Yai ensured that all of Madam Liab’s belongings were immaculately clean and well-maintained. Even though she grew up in a farmer family, she managed the housework of a wealthy family meticulously and to the great satisfaction of the house owner.
Khun Yai’s industrious, patient, disciplined, honest, neat, and tidy nature led to Madam Liab entrusting her with the key and the responsibility of tending to the property room that housed valuable belongings such as gold and silver kept in wooden boxes. Apart from the owner of the house and Khun Yai, nobody was allowed to enter that room. With full trust in Khun Yai’s character and abilities, the owner of the house could leave home for other places without any worries. As Khun Yai did her duties perfectly, the homeowner’s love and trust in her only grew.
